Bo Rua Farm in Ballynoe, County Cork is home to the Dinneens, who have been dairy farming for generations.

Their inspiration came from their unusual herd of Montbeliarde cows, also known as the 'red cows' (in Irish Bo =Cow, Rua=Red). The breed is renowned throughout the world for the exceptional quality of their milk. This alluring fact did not escape our attention and in 2015 we decided it was high time we made more use of our delicious milk and started cheese production. It had to be cheddar, Tom's favourite, and so Bo Rua Farm cheddar was born.

Using their own traditional recipes, each cheese is handmade by them. They begin cheesemaking straight after morning milking, ensuring we they the freshest of milk straight from their much loved cows. In their first year of cheese production, the quality and flavour of their cheddar was recognised with a Bord Bia Irish Cheese Award.

Along with their natural cheddar, they also produce two flavoured varieties, Cumin Seeds and Tomato & Herbs."
